About the WHS: The Wildwood Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, protecting, and preserving the colorful 200-year history of this island. Started in 1963 by Wildwood volunteer firefighter George F. Boyer, the WHS has grown over the past 61 years to encompass 5 rooms and seemingly endless Wildwood artifacts and photographs. Located at 3907 Pacific Avenue, the WHS is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year. In April, May, September and October, we’re open Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are currently in need of volunteers to help with various tasks around the museum, so if you are interested in learning more about Wildwood or taking up the cause to preserve its history, come help out!
Program Details:
We are seeking volunteers of any age to help out around the museum. There is no application; all we ask is that prospective volunteers visit the museum to meet with our Manager for a short orientation of sorts to learn about the Historical Society beforehand. Volunteers are asked to commit to 25 hours of volunteer work per month. We are open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and volunteers are free to choose when they come in, with prior notice. Tasks for volunteers include the following:
Greeting museum visitors
Assisting with opening/closing of the museum
Helping guests with research requests
Cleaning or organizing museum archives/collections
Keeping the museum tidy
Join us in continuing to keep Wildwood history alive. Email us, give us a call or stop in at 3907 Pacific Ave, Wildwood during our hours of operation for more information or to organize a visit!
